Descriptive essays are written compositions you will be required to formulate in which you describe a particular place, real or imagined.  In order to write a good description, you must determine your point of view, carefully select the appropriate details, arrange those details in sensible sequence, and use exact, vivid nouns and verbs instead of trying to strengthen vague nouns with adjective or vague verbs with adverbs.

The scoring guide for a descriptive essay is included to help you compose your own descriptive passage.  Remember that you are required to use 12 point Times New Roman, double-spacing, and one inch margins.
