Narrative essays make a point by telling a story. To tell the story, an author uses one or more of three methods. The author may use descriptive detail to allow the reader to visualize the events or action. The author might also use dialogue in order to allow the reader to hear the conversation between two characters. Or the author might use exposition in order to explain to the reader the relationships between events in the narrative.
Use the scoring guide below to help you as you compose your own narrative essay. Remember that the same conventions apply as in all essay assignments for my classes: the essay must be written in 12 point Times New Roman and double-spaced with a one inch margin all the way around.
